Evan Cheng is a technologist and entrepreneur, former Apple and Meta employee. As of 2022, he is the co-founder and CEO at Mysten Labs, an web3 infrastructure company.

Apple (2005 - 2015)
Evan led Apple’s effort in low level developer and system design tools as an individual contributor and manager. In April 2013, the ACM awarded Evan its Software System Award (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ ACM_Software_System_Award), which is presented to anyone "recognized for developing a software system that has had a lasting influence, reflected in contributions to concepts, in commercial acceptance, or both". LLVM has established itself as a fundamental technology with reaches in the billions, powering every iOS, Android, Mac OS, and other smart devices on the planet.
Facebook (2015 - 2018)
Evan built out Facebook’s programming language and runtime organization that was responsible for developing, optimizing, and operating systems that power everything from ML accelerators, mobile, and server workloads. His organization of nearly 200 has annual budget in high tens of millions.
Novi Financial (2018 - 2021)
Evan built and led Novi Research, which employed some of the world’s foremost experts in distributed systems, programming language, cryptography, and formal verification. They delivered the Move programming language (Evan is second author on the original paper) which now powers several leading public blockchain projects; Diem Core, which was later commercialized as the Aptos blockchain; Diem Framework, which was the core operating module of the now defunct Diem payment network; DAPL, a distributed auditing proof of solvency solution that is being adopted by leading commercial audit firms. Mysten Labs (2021 - )
Evan, along with four ex-Novi Research co-founders, founded Mysten Labs in Nov 2021. Mysten Labs has raised over $330m over two funding rounds in 2022 and grown to over 120 people (> 130 including Sui Foundation personnel). Mysten Labs’ first project is a next generation layer-1 blockchain called Sui (https://sui.io/) which is expected to go mainnet in early 2023. Hundreds of thousands of community members and developers are eagerly awaiting Sui’s launch to usher in mainstream adoption of the blockchain technology.
