Kaoru Numata joined Nomura in 2010 and is the Senior Managing Director of Digital Company and Retail Division Marketing in the Nomura Holdings. He has held a number of positions in Nomura, including the co-Global Wholesale CIO, the Group CIO of Nomura Holdings and the Head of Innovation Lab., IT & Operation in the Nomura Asset Management. He was appointed the current position in April, 2021.

Before working for Nomura Securities, Kaoru Numata worked for Nomura Research Institute (NRI) for 23 years, commencing his career as a computer infrastructure engineer. He moved into project management and delivered a number of critical infrastructure projects during his time at NRI. He was seconded to Nomura in 2003 as Nomura Securities’ Head of System Infrastructure and became a co-head of global technical infrastructure in 2005. He returned to NRI in 2007 and was responsible for system design work for Nomura’s Retail system.

Kaoru Numata serves on the Director of Crypt Garage Inc, the Outside Director of Osaka Stock Exchange Co., Ltd. and the president of Oracle Applications & Technology Users Group Japan. He holds a master’s degree from Arthur D. Little School of Management in Boston, Massachusetts and bachelor’s degree from Osaka University in Osaka, Japan.
